IIIT-H emphasizes the importance of innovations and assists in transiting them into products, processes and services for both commercial benefits and the widest public good. Technology transfer and outreach at IIIT-H is facilitated by the Technology Transfer Office (TTO).

TTO manages the transfer process of Intellectual Property (IP) produced in IIIT-H to appropriate bodies including industry, entrepreneurs, etc. and makes all attempts to commercialize the IP. It provides a platform where IP meets potential users and financiers. This in a way contributes towards IIIT-H's primary responsibility of fostering, stimulating and encouraging create activities in science and technology in the widest sense.

TTO also manages Product Labs that develops market relevant product prototypes from research output of the Labs at our Institute. Product labs work with industry partners to develop relevant prototypes.

Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR)

Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR) is a a co-creation model to enable entrepreneurs to leverage research output from IIIT-H labs leading to:

  1. Licensing of IIIT-H technology
  2. Increase deep tech startups
  3. Social / Commercial use of research output

EIR Selection Process :

  • The potential EIR sends out a high level idea, opportunity & plan.
  • The EIR goes through the CIE idea validation and boot camps to refine their ideas. The shortlisted ideas move forward to formal EIR program.
  • EIR and IIIT Product labs agree upon the first product development scope and plan with a 3-6 months calendar cap – Till first customer pilot
  • EIR term sheet is formally signed off for IIIT Product Lab and Research Labs Allocate resources.
  • Licensing : Equity / Cash / Combination of Both:
    • Exclusive for business of the startup in focus.
    • Expires If EIR does not build the business as per agreed milestones
