Technology Description
Cognitive radios, which are aware of their radio environment, are going to be one of the key enablers for 5G. Based on the awareness of spectrum or radio environment, cognitive radio can not only improve the spectrum reuse through dynamic spectrum access but also minimize interference between different radios. The main aim of this project is the research and development of cognitive radio applications that will enable the 5th generation of wireless technology. The main objectives of this work are creating spectrum awareness and managing interference in 5G. The scope of is mostly on PHY and Medium Access Control MAC layers of the protocol stack.
